Happy Monday

Went to a great business dinner tonight and met an amazing person, Jim Paluch. He is an author and a motivational speaker. I can't wait to hear him tomorrow. I have read one of his books and I am reading another. He said something so profound tonight. We are always trying to do better than our best. How true. I try each day to do better. I try and always do my best. We are always trying to do better though, and if we are really doing our best how can we always better it?

I try and make others feel good. I try to be kind. I try and remember that "nothing great was ever accomplished without enthusiam". Happy Monday!

My Big Sis-the most amazing day!

Amazing!!! There are people you meet in your life who no matter how many years have gone by that you don't see them, when you do see them it feels like no time has gone by and you pick right up. This is my big sister from my sorority Delta Phi Zeta, Lora Wiley. I have not seen Lora in over 20 years. Today we spent the most incredible 6 hours together and just talked and laughed and remembered some great people we went to college with.
Lora is incredible and I mean that. She has been nominated for 2 Emmy's and has done it all in a big way. After college Lora went to Broadway and worked the biz and was very accomplished. She then switched to tv and became a producer and then an Executive Producer for people like Jerry Springer, Heraldo and Leeza Gibbons. She has lived in NYC, LA and now lives in Germany. She is married to a doctor who works for the UN in Iraq. Please keep Dr. B in your prayers and thoughts. She is a woman who could do anything! She is working on some incredible projects currently and is just out of this world great!
Lora is beautiful, stunning and just the cat's pajama's. I love you Lora. I am so glad we reconnected and that you are back in my life. You are wise and smart and I have missed you. Thanks for one amazing day. I can't wait til you come back to Florida and we can spend more time together.

A little Mr. Rogers

I was over in Boynton Beach over the weekend with my best friend Molly and we both bought Life's Journey's According to Mr. Rogers. That man was a visionary. He was a lovable man when I was little, he taught imagination and manners and sharing and being friends. Little did we all know just how much he really knew. I have decided to share a quote a day of Mr. Rogers and what it means to me on my blog.

There are many times that I wish I had heard that "just who you are at this moment, with the way that you're feeling, is fine. You don't have to be anything more than who you are right now." I'd like to think it's also something that's happened to me through the years, that I'm more able to accept myself as I happen to be, rather than as somebody thought I should be.

You go Mr. Rogers. It is a challenge to be a good wife, mother, friend, daughter, sister, employee and more everyday. Somedays it all seems to work and other days it is a struggle to just get one of those right. I didn't make any new years resolutions this year. I am just trying to get by each day. Mourning the loss of someone you love is long and hard. My best friend Joan said it took 3 years after she lost her mother before she felt normal again. It took me 14 years after I lost my mother to not cry everyday or when someone said something about her. At this moment I am sad, I think I may be sad for many days to come and that is alright. I dont' respond well when people say my father is in a better place now. The only place I want him is here with his family. I know that is not possible but saying he is in a better place isn't comforting. This all will pass. Life does continue to go on but it is not the same and it never will be.

I have many blessings and I have not forgotten them. But being in pain and mourning a loss is real and I feel it now. So if you love me don't say he is in a better place and don't tell me there will be brighter days ahead ( I know there will be) just love me and listen.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Jon Udell

Congrats Jon and Jodi. Well we got back late yesterday from the other coast and my brothers incredible wedding weekend. It was a bittersweet weekend for our family. We were all missing my dad but the wedding was so wonderful. Jodi has the greatest family and it was so nice to be with family and friends and meet new incredible people. On Thursday we enjoyed a beautiful bridal shower at Jodi's cousins and got to meet her family and friends. On Friday my mom threw a great rehearsal dinner that was a lot of fun and on Saturday we partied all day. The wedding was held at a beautiful place called the River House in Ft. Lauderdale and it was great fun. Jodi looked so beautiful and the kids all had such a great time. It was Andrew's first wedding and he loved it! I may need to watch out, he could become the next wedding crasher. He was a dancing fool and he looked so cute walking down the aisle. After the wedding ceremony many of us switched shoes to Crocs. Jon and Jodi live in Crocs so it was the accepted dress for the party. I got pictures of everyone's Crocs.
On Saturday night Jeff taught Shari and I how to play Texas Holdem and let me tell you, Shari is addicted. She is a great poker player and can bluff like no one's business. I have some great pictures of us playing poker with M&M's. We didn't have chips to play with on Saturday, but by Sunday we did. Shari and I beat Jeff and Jay and split the pot. Happy New Year everyone. I am hoping for a much better year this year. I am praying for speedy recoveries for Melissa's dad and for Fern's mom. No resolutions for me right now. I am working at looking ahead and taking care of me. One day at a time.
